- There are a number of reasons why a recording may appear choppy, laggy, or have audio/video fall out of sync. Below are simple steps that you can take to help avoid this problem and improve the quality of your recording.
- Each of the following recommendations is designed to reduce the CPU load on your computer. CPU load is the number of resources being used by your computer to process and run multiple apps or programs at the same time. A lower CPU load should help to produce a smoother recording.
Common Fixes to Improve Recordings
- Close any unused browser tabs, apps, and programs.
- Check your battery level. We recommend recording when you are plugged into a power source.
- Check your computer's Activity Monitor (MacOS) or Task Manager (Windows) to identify and close unnecessary programs that are using a lot of CPU or that may be running in the background.
- On MacOS: Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor
- On Windows: CTRL + Alt + Delete > Task Manager
- Check your device's memory usage in the Activity Monitor (MacOS) or Task Manager (Windows). If your device is low on RAM, it can affect the transcoding speed of OneMob.
- Restart your compute or device.
- Check your upload speed. You will want at least 5 mbps.
